Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Monday, inaugurated Mrs Alolade Agboola, the wife of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator, Hosea Agboola and eighteen others as Permanent Secretaries in the state. Also inaugurated were the State Head of Service, Mr. Soji Eniade and the Accountant-General, Mr. Oludele Oyadeyi.
The governor had at an inter-faith service to usher in the new year on January 5 confirmed the appointment of the newly inaugurated Permanent Secretaries, the HOS and the A-G, all of whom had been on acting capacity before then.
At the inauguration ceremony, which had in attendance, Senator Agboola, the PDP senator representing Oyo North, the governor said that his administration would continue to reward competence and professionalism in the state civil service without political or religious bias.
The governor, who said that his administration would continue to place emphasis on merit above sentiments, added that for an individual to be appointed as a permanent secretary such person must have the requisite professionalism and integrity.
His words: “These appointments are a testimony of our resolve to put quality above politics. Your appointments are purely on merit without consideration for my personal, political or religious interest.
“You are able, willing, capable and professionally competent. Be loyal to the government of the day. Once I leave office in 2019, by the grace of God, be loyal to whoever comes in. Whoever is there is your governor; work diligently with that person but you must not support him to do wrong.
“I like to leave you with this thought: that during the life of this administration that elevates quality, you were found worthy in knowledge, character and professionalism to be appointed,’’ he said.
