Actress Mercy Johnson on Friday received a call from an unknown number and it turned out to be hired killers.
Johnson is Senior Special Assistant to Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, on Arts, Entertainment and Culture.
She took to Instagram early Saturday to explain that the caller was part of a group planning to commit murder.
She wrote: “…it called me and said ‘hideout clear, do we kill then’ and when I spoke, the call cut quickly”.
She added that when she called the number back, the caller started to insult her via text messages.
She posted the number on her Instagram page. Her followers on the social media platform were however divided over her action. Why some thanked her for courage and for exposing the number, others said it was a wrong move that could backfire.
Fears were expressed for the actress’ life especially with the political crisis rocking the state. Death threats have been flying to and fro various political camp in the state. Early in the week, hoodlums invaded the State House of Assembly complex and beat lawmakers blue black.
Some months ago, hired assassins reportedly stormed Senator Dino Melaye’s home, with the senator not absolving te governor. A fatal incident also rocked one of his rallies in the state.
There has been no love lost between the senator and the governor.
