APC state congresses are currently ongoing in states across the nation, with some state branches having parallel events to elect new state executives.
Lagos
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state has chosen Alhaji Tunde Balogun as the new state chairman.
He emerged chairman by affirmation as Chairman of APC Congress Committee in the state, Senator Uche Ekwuenife, said there would be no voting at the Congress.
Kogi
In Kogi, Alhaji Haddi Ametuo emerged as the factional chairman of the party in the state. The erstwhile party chieftain emerged at the APC parallel Congress held at Felele area of Lokoja, the state capital.
The faction has the backing of the Audu/Faleke APC Political Organization while Alhaji Ibrahim Ahovi, the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, was supported by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor Yahaya Bello, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, has however described the group as lacking morals and discipline, saying they have committed “political treason.”
Oyo
The Oyo state branch is also set to produce factional chairmen as parallel congresses were held in Ibadan, the state capital.
While the group loyal to Governor Abiola Ajimobi held its congress at the Lekan Salami stadium, Adamasingba, the Unity Forum comprising Minister of Communication, Narrister Adebayo Shittu, Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina and some federal lawmakers.
