A 5.6-magnitude earthquake has hit central Italy. Reports have it that the quake was also felt in Rome.
This happens two months after a powerful quake killed nearly 300 people.
No immediate reports of damage in today’s quake.
UPDATE:
It was gathered that two powerful earthquakes struck two hours apart, destroying historic buildings and cutting power lines, about 45 miles north of the devastating August quake.
Reports said the first tremor measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale came at 7.10pm local time on Wednesday, near Visso in Macerata province while the second, measuring 6.1, came two hours later, wiping out buildings and plunging homes into darkness.
Buildings in far away Rome, 80 miles away, also felt the quake.
No serious injuries have so far been reported.
Civil Protection authorities were preparing a survey of the quake-stricken zone at daybreak as bad weather continues to hammer the region.
