Kassim Afegbua, spokesman of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) finally showed up at the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja on Wednesday.
After a two hour meeting with the police authorities, Afegbua told journalists that the meeting was “more or less a friendly chat just to ascertain the veracity of the statement I issued”.
He said the Police apologized for declaring him wanted. He said the police blamed a communication gap for the development, explaining that they admitted events had overtaken the reason for which he was initially declared wanted.
His words: “It was more a less like a friendly chat just to ascertain the veracity of the statement I issued…. At the end of the day, they apologised saying they didn’t mean to intimidate me or harass me particularly having known me as spokesman for the former military President for more than 14 years now”.
On what happens to the N1 billion suit filed against the police and two TV stations, Afegbua said he would discuss with his lawyer on the next line of action.
