The Supreme Council of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) has named a new General Evangelist after the retirement of Prophet Samuel Abiara who just turned 75.
The new CAC General Evangelist is Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji.
Oladeji was an evangelist at CAC Canaanland until his appointment by the Supreme Council, the church’s highest governing body, which comprises of all principal officers, all Assistant General Superintendents and other senior officers.
According to sources, there were usually three candidates for the position, from which the Supreme Council would choose one, “based on the leading of the Holy Spirit.”
Prophet Abiara was the head of the Agbala Itura Worldwide.
Meanwhile, The Punch reports that in a telephone interview on Friday night, Abiara said he was grateful to God for a successful tenure.
His words: “I’m happy. I’m very happy and I thank God for His grace. In the rules of the church, when you clock 75, you retire, and that was what happened. I was even one of those who announced him as the new General Superintendent. So, I’m happy.”
