There was an ugly scene at the match between West Ham and Burnley at the London Stadium on Saturday.
While the match was still on, angry West Ham fans invaded the pitch, hurling abuses at co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan as Burnley thrashed them 3-0
West Ham captain Mark Noble tackled one of the invaders and threw him to the floor. The invasion prompted two more fans to storm onto the pitch, while thousands of other supporters streamed to the exits with more than 20 minutes remaining.
Hundreds took over the standing area in front of Gold and Sullivan, screaming “we’re not West Ham any more” and accusing the co-owners of “destroying the club”.
In an ensuing scuffle between fans and a small group of stewards, one middle-aged female steward was thrown the floor before she was pulled to her feet and dragged out of the melee.
With today’s home defeat, the club now sits just three points above the relegation zone.
