The organisers of the #ResumeOrResign including popular musician, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy were attacked by angry protesters believed to be a Pro-Buhari sponsored group at Wuse Market, Abuja.
Deji Adeyanju, the co-convener of the #ResumeOrResign protest, said the Wuse attack is the third in a series of attack on the group.
The group is calling for the return or resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been away in London on medical vacation for 100 days.
Charly Boy who had stormed the market was reportedly nearly lynched by youth who almost overpowered police security near him before he was rescued fired into the air to disperse the mob.
The musician and his fellow campaigners were last week attacked by security officials who dispersed them violently from the Unity fountain, also in Abuja.
The security operatives later returned to remove Charly Boy’s vehicles from the market, using tear-gas to disperse the protesters who tried to stop them.
Premium Times quoted a meat seller in the market who witnessed the incident as saying: “Charly Boy caused it, how can he come here to be talking against Buhari. Those Hausa boys dealt with him,” a meat seller in the market who witnessed the incident said.
