The State of Israel turns 70 on May 14, 2018 and the celebrations are global. Nigerians, especially Christians and Jewish supporting organisations, are not left out.
Some of such Christian organisations in Nigeria include the I Stand With Israel and Christians United for Israel.
At a press conference organised on Monday to announce the events fixed for the celebrations, Pastor Rex Ajenifuja, the Chief Operating Officer of IStandWithIsrael, explained that celebrating with Israel was important because the people of Israel coming back together after 3000 years and becoming a modern nation on May 14, 1948, is a confirmation of God’s promises.
He said: ” As part of our mission and goals at IStandWithIsrael, we want to connect as many Christians in Nigeria as possible to their Jewish brothers and sisters in Israel. And we want to congratulate them and make sure they realise that God has blessed them greatly.”
He explained that a fundraising project has been put together to support the Israeli people. He said donations are needed to:
- Plant of 700 trees in Israel symbolising the fulfilment of God’s commandment that the desert shoukd be made to flourish.
- Give an offering of $700 each to 10 Jewish Rabbis
- Bless 70 poor Israeli families over the next seven months.
Britt Lode, founder of the Olive Tree foundation, explained that the mission of the project is to create a spiritual connection and blessings partnership between the Christians in Nigeria and the nation of Israel.
“This relationship was prophesied in the Bible centuries ago, that the foreigners and strangers (those not of Jewish descent) would help rebuild the walls of Israel and cause the desert to bloom”, she stated.
According to Rev. Ajenifuja, Israel at 70 celebrations will hold in Ibadan, Lagos and Abuja. He said celebrations will hold in Moniya Ibadan on May 13, 14 and 15 while it would hold at Lekki, Lagos on May 13.
Also speaking at the conference, Rev. Samson Ozovehe of Christians United for Israel and Secretary of the Israel @ 70 Central Committee, said the Abuja celebration will hold on June 3 at the National Christian Centre, Central Area, Abuja.
He appealed to Nigerians to join the mobilisation to support Israel by also contributing in cash and mind.
The press conference also witnessed the presentation of a book by Britt Lode, titled, The Light from Zion, a collection Torah portions 12 leading rabbis of Israel.
The speakers at the conference stressed that the decision of President Donald Trump to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, was God’s decision.
