Forbes has released its list of 2018 billionnaires, saying it found a record 2,208 billionaires from 72 countries collectively worth $9.1 trillion.
“Among them are 259 newcomers who made their fortunes in everything from wedding dresses to children’s toys to electric cars”, the magazine wrote.
Their average net worth is a record $4.1 billion. Americans lead the way with a record 585 billionaires, followed by mainland China with 373.
The richest man on the planet is Amazon boss, Jeff Bezos who has beaten Bill Gates to a distant number two.
As usual, Americans dominated the list with 585 billionaires followed by China with 373.
The youngest billionnaire remains Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg in number 5.
Aliko Dangote remains Africa’s richest man with $14.1 billion. He made the top 100 list.
Other Nigerians on Forbes’ list of billionnaires are Globacom boss, Mike Adenuga and oil magnate Folorunsho Akakija.
Other Africans on the list were majorly from South Africa.
Frenchman Benard Arnault is Europe’s richest man with a fortune of $72 billion.
Internet media mogul, Ma Huateng is China and Asia’s richest man with $45.3 billion.
