Reports have it that the immediate past governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Post reports that APC Spokesman in the South-East, Mr. Hyacinth Ngwu announced that Chime had joined the ruling party.
He wrote in his timeline: “Breaking News: Today, His Excellency Barr. Sullivan Iheanacho Chime, immediate past governor of Enugu State joined APC.”
Recall that in 2015, Chime battled Ekweremadu for the Enugu West Senatorial seat but later withdrew for the Deputy Senate President.
His reported defection is seen as a bid to challenge him again in 2019.
But some critics say the ex-governor may be joining the APC in order to evade prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over his alleged involvement in the 2015 election money shared by former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison Madueke.
