The Katsina State Government has allocated a total of 5,300 hectares of land to the Federal Governemnt’s proposed cattle colonies project.
The land is located in Gurbin Baure, Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
The Special Adviser to the government on Agriculture, Dr. Abba Yakubu Abdallah, disclosed this on Thursday.
He said the land had been allocated over a year ago as a mark of the state government’s commitment to the development of crop and livestock farming.
“If Katsina don’t key in, who will? We are amongst the first set to provide and allocate land for such activity; we gave 5,300 hectares over a year ago,” he said.
Several other states especially those in the Middle belt and Southern parts of the country have kicked against the idea, stating categorically that they have no land for cattle colonies in their states.
