Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has described as untrue reports that his party signed an agreement to work with the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming polls.
The former governor who spoke through his director of public affairs, Oludare Ogunlana said the LP and the APC have different ideologies which are parallel.
He said it was a cheap electoral strategy by the APC to win election since it dawned on the APC members that they are living on borrowed time.
His words: “Labour Party has its own ideology and it can never be like the APC; a party that has no sympathy for the poor masses. Rather than make sure the people benefitted from its project, the present administration continues to empower few capitalists and thereby inflicting untold hardship on the people.
“How can we be associated with a government is similar to that of dictators like Adolf Hitler?. We’ve not forgotten the Soka revelation where many people were held captive for many years. The government has yet to tell us the outcome of the investigative after over a year.
Akala said he has been to some parts of the state “and all what the people are saying is that Akala should come back. Things have gone worse. All what I did as governor still stands the test of time”.
He said if the people are saying the incumbent administration should be changed, why would he sign any agreement with a sinking government.
He urged the people to “be resilient in your resolve to vote out a non-performing government”, adding that they should go and collect their permanent voter cards.
