Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, confirmed this at the meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
He also confirmed the return of former Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde as well as Barrister Sharafadeen Alli.
Makarfi, who warned intending returnees to hurry up, stressed that “while we reconcile and accommodate, we are not waiting for any individual to make up their mind”.
Makarfi said the Accord Party presently has six lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly and that a 40-man committee had been set up to look into the registration of the new entrants.
In the 2015 elections, Ladoja and Makinde were the governorship candidates of Accord and SDP, respectively while Alli was the running mate of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala who contested under Labour Party.
Rumours have it prominent chieftains that dumped the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2015 elections were being rumoured to be working their way back to the PDP.
According to Makarfi, the PDP has to get it right this time “because this is what will determine whether we succeed in 2019 or not”.
He explained that his team was working on the time table for the convention.
He cautioned members against the antics of sycophants, saying such could boomerang on the party because it would be difficult to carry everybody along.
According to him, the leadership of the party was ready to wield the big stick, stressing that members would henceforth be made to face disciplinary actions if they worked against the interests of the party.
