The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s call for the Coalition for Nigeria as a plot to deceive Nigerians again as he did in 2015.
The party however said Obasanjo’s advice to President Muhammadu Buhari not seek a re-election in 2019 was courageous, timeous and patriotic.
Obasanjo on Tuesday in a public statement highlighted several areas in which Buhari had failed. He also announced that a Coalition for Nigeria was in the offing.

The PDP, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Obasanjo’s action has rekindled the fate of Nigerians in the democratic process.
“Chief Obasanjo’s counsel has rekindled the fate of the people in the democratic process. The solution, however, does not lie in creating another political quicksand in a third force but consolidating on a rescue mission with the repositioned PDP which Nigerians have already embraced,” the statement read in part.
The statement however warned Nigerians not to fall into another trap in the guise of a coalition.
The statement said: “Nigerians would recall that in the heat of 2015 elections, many citizens, who claimed to have become tired of the PDP and its government, opted for a coalition of strange bedfellows who had little or no experience in governance as a vehicle for electoral victory. Expectedly, in their confusion, they have plunged is into this regrettable situation that has brought our nation to its knees”
