All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and members in Oyo North Senatorial district have praised President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abiola Ajimobi on how they have been mitigating the impact of the economic recession on the populace.
The district leaders comprising of party faithfuls frm Oke-Ogun, Oriire, Ogbomosho North and Ogbomosho South local coincils, gave the commendation at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday at Iseyin City Hall, Iseyin.
They pointed out that the current economic recession as a global crisis would not have had its dire consequences on Nigeria if the previous administrations under the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had done the needful in the time of boom.
Speaking, the APC State Vice Chairman (Oyo North), Chief ‘Goke Oyetunji, said: “The concerted efforts of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi in the areas of providing good governance and mellifluous dividends of democracy to all and sundry despite prevailing nosediving economy should be commended. The resilience and excellent managerial skills which Gov. Ajimobi brings to governance has paid off again now that the arrears of salaries and pensions hitherto owed workers and pensioners are being settled.”
The Deputy Governor, Otunba Moses Adeyemo, who also hails from the zone, revealed that the government was ready to resume work on virtually all the on-going projects across the nooks and crannies of the state in view of the resolve of Senator Ajimobi to fulfill all his electoral promises to the people. He added that the sad realities of the economic meltdown which affected the state have strengthened the determination of the APC administration to serve the people despite the challenges being faced.
APC State Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, also remarked that the dismal outing of the APC at the August, 2016 by-election in the Oorelope State Constituency where the Party candidate lost to the Labour Party was revisited and a number of factors were noted as responsible and these were being addressed accordingly. The development was a wake-up call to all party faithful as it should be made a catalyst which would make the Party win all the available Chairmanship and Councillorship seats in the forthcoming Local Government Elections.
Among party chieftains present at the meeting were; Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, Hon. George ‘Bosun Oladele, Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu, Hon. Wasiu Dauda (Azuzu), Hon. Mudasiru AbdulGaniyu, Hon. Chief Isaac Ishola, Hon. Yisau Azeez and state executive committee and local government executive committee members as well as all the caretaker chairmen and party elders from the zone.
