Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has withdrawn assent to four bills already passed by both the Senate and House of Representatives.
In a letter to Senate President Bukola Saraki and read Wednesday at Plenary, Osinbajo said he was withholding assent to the following bills:
- Dangerous Drug Amendment Bill 2016
- National Lottery Bill
- Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund
- Currency Conversion Freezing Order Amendment Bill
The Acting President said he was withholding assent to the bills due to the following reasons:
- The Dangerous Drug Amendment Bill – Concerns regarding words & phrases used and the spirit behind amendment.
- National Lottery Bill – Due to pending legal issues and the National Assembly’s power to legislate on the subject matter.
