The Oyo State Government has said that it will channel a minimum of 60 per cent of the N7.9billion Paris Club fund it received on Monday, July 17, to the payment of salary and pension arrears in the state.
This is even as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state is urging the state government to rather deploy 100 per cent of the latest funds to salaries and pension arrears.
Newspeakonline gathers that the NLC had written a letter to the governor to make the request.
It was learnt that the decision to commit 60% was to beat the Federal Government’s threshold of 50%.
On how the first two tranches were disbursed, Commissioner for Finance, Mr Abimbola Adekanmbi, explained that over 60 per cent of the first tranche of N7.2 billion was used for salaries and pensions, whike 100 per cent of the second tranche of 5 billion was used for the same purpose.
