The Director General Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) Pastor Yinka Adepoju has rolled out a two – day awareness and sensitization campaign to educate and caution members of the public against illegal erection of billboard, signpost and poster across the state or face necessary sanction, just as he gives 14 days ultimatum to remove all illegal Bill boards in the State.
He stated this during the two days sensitization and awareness campaign to educate the general public and advertising practitioners operating in the State.
He reiterated that Oyo State Singnage and. Advertisement Agency embarked on a sensitization campaign to intimate members of the public particularly advertising agencies, prospective business owners who intend to use the outdoor medium to follow due process.
He added that the sensitization tour would last for two days while billboards and posters marked for removal or payment of bill should comply duly or face sanction after two weeks.
“We have observed that advertisers are no longer keeping to the guild lines that back up the advertisement programme in the state, we have made it clear that we have a law that established this agency and the law clearly spelt out that the agency is meant to regulate, control, monitor, and administer the use of bill boards, Signage and other advertising platforms.”
He continued “but in the recent time, we observed that rather than people to comply with our laid down rules, they erect their bill boards indiscriminately, they paste posters and fly banners any how, this is a responsible government we can not tolerate that, the agency is a regulatory agency, we can not sit down in the office and allow this to happen, that is why we come out to sensitize people and remind them of their financial obligations to government. We must make sure that they keep rules and regulations that guild the agency.” he added
“Illegal Bill boards come up in the form of Bill boards that did not receive appropriate approval, even if the boards receive an approval and it does not paid for it becomes illegal and it will face removal .” Adepoju said
