Over 100 passengers of Air Peace who were stranded at Kano Airport on Sunday moved towards a protest in anger.
The Lagos-bound angry passengers waited endlessly for their flight scheduled for 1:40pm till 8:00pm before the staff officially addressed them that the flight had been cancelled and rescheduled for 8:00am on Monday.
Throughout the waiting period, the passengers were left without any official communication on what was responsible for the delay and final cancellation of the flight.
The passengers expressed disappointment with the airline as they complained bitterly.
“The bitter part of this ugly experience is that no one is here to explain to us officially what is happening. We keep waiting without information giving any hope. We are just here. This is unacceptable,” one of the stranded passengers told Newspeakonline.
It was gathered the airline only served them snacks around 5:00pm, four hours after they had been waiting.
After the announcement of the reschedule, the passengers were told to come back for the 8:00 am flight. They were not provided with accommodation or any form of compensation.
“We were just left without any care. It didn’t matter to them that many of us came from neighbouring states and cities. They did not make efforts to lodge us after wasting our time for the whole day. We were really treated shabbily. It was sad.” Said another passenger.
Some of them pledged to drag the airline to court over the poor treatment.
When contacted, one of the customer service agents who spoke to Newspeakonline expressed apology for the incident. She said an operational problem was responsible for the flight reschedule. She said the problem would be fixed over the night, hence they were asked to come back 8:00 am.
The lady, who pleaded for anonymity, said such ugly experience is scarce with the airline.
