The joint security force of Nigeria and Republic of Benin on Thursday averted a robbery attack that would have been, the “mother of all robberies” at Lagos Seme border.
It was gathered that a group of armed robbers led by one TJ who had been on the wanted list by the Nigeria Police had planned to attack some banks and bureau de change at seme area of Lagos state through the water ways but met their waterloo.
Six of the suspects, were shot dead, while three, including the robbery kingpin were arrested.
Lagos State Police Commissioner,Mr Fatai Owoseni at a joint press conference with Regional Director of Police,Republic of Benin,Ogouchero Severin at Seme, said one speed boat, rocket launcher, Ak 47 rifle, 883 live catridges, six loaded magazine, explosives including dynamite were recovered from the robbers.
“They had targeted our banks and Bureau de change,but through the synergy between the two countries and intelligence gathering,we gave the hoodlums the fight of their lives”.
