Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player to have played in the English Premier League. This is according to a recent online poll of 1000 members of the public in England.
Ronaldo garnered 24% votes beating fellow contestants like Thierry Henry (18%) , Ryan Giggs (13%) and fellow luminaries Eric Cantona (12%), Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer, Roy Keane (2%) and Patrick Vieira (1%).
Ronaldo spent just six years in English at Manchester United from 2003, when he was 18 years old and 2009, when he left for Real Madrid after winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League winners’ medal and an FA Cup gong.
He won the first of his three FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2008.
