Russia has warned Britain not to threaten a nuclear power as Kremlin officials ignored Theresa May’s midnight deadline to explain how the nerve agent that poisoned a former spy, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, in Salisbury, found its way into Britain.
As Mrs May prepared to unveil retaliatory measures against Moscow, Vladimir Putin’s officials refused to offer any explanation.
“Any threat to take punitive measures against Russia will meet with a response. The British side should be aware of that.”, Russian officials warned last night.
Backed by the United States, Germany and France – Mrs May is now heading toward a showdown with President Putin and his regime.
She may announce sanctions today, and it may start with the expulsion of Russian diplomats in UK.
But the Russian Embassy in London released a series of tweets featuring threatening messages accompanied by pictures of what appears to be vials of poison.
One of he messages read: “Those calling for Russian diplomats’ expulsion don’t care about Global Britain and its diplomats in Moscow”
