A man named Prabbu Bhatara has been mauled to death by a bear after he reportedly tried to take a selfie with the creature at Nabarangphur district of Odisha in India.
Prabbu was coming from a wedding when he stopped to use the toilet on his way home. He spotted the injured animal and decided to take a selfie with the animal.
Reports said his fellow passengers in the SUV Bhatara alighted from, advised him against the dangerous selfie adventure but the ignored them.
As he moved towards the creature, it struck and a struggle ensued. A stray dog also stepped in to help the man but its intervention failed to deter the larger animal.
Forest ranger Dhanurjaya Mohapatra said Mr Bhatara “died on the spot.” and “the bear is being treated for its injuries.”
