Two soldiers, two policemen and a prison warder, have been arrested for their involvement in the alleged sexual harassment at the Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in the North East.
The Inspector- General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this on Tuesday, during a monthly conference with zonal Assistant Inspector Generals of Police(AIGs) and the state Commissioners of Police( CPs. )
He said that one Airforce personnel, two civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) members and one civil servant from the Borno State Ministry of Agriculture, were also arrested
The IGP, said that female detectives have been deployed to the IDPs’ camps, so as to stem the rising tide of sexual harassment in the camps
The IGP said that the two policemen implicated in the sexual scandal will be dismissed from the force before charging them to court, while due process has to be followed for other service personnel arrested.
