CNN has confirmed that the package sent to its headquarters was actually addressed to former CIA Director, John Brennan.
The pattern of events now point to the fact that all those who had the packages sent to them are democrats and former officials of the Barack Obama administration.
The office of Florida Democratic Congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, has also been evacuated with reports saying it also received the suspicious package.
The White House has stated emphatically that it did not receive any package
Reports had it earlier that the US secret service had intercepted a bomb sent to the White House.
A report on CNN says law enforcement reported that the explosive device was similar to the ones earlier sent to homes of former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and Democratic senator, George Soros.
Law enforcement says the packages have been discovered in CNN offices.
But it is being learnt that the package reportedly sent to the White House is yet to be confirmed to be a bomb.
The Time Warner Centre which houses CNN bureau in New York has been evacuated and bomb squad operatives have taken over the building, asking people to move far away.
News anchors Jim Scuitto and Poppy Harlow were on air reporting the delivery to the White House, the Obamas, the Clintons and the Soros’ when the evacuation alarm sounded. Viewers heard the alarm on air.

There is now apprehension across major cities in the US.
Domestic terrorism is being suspected but police are yet to explain the development.
The White House has reacted to the incident, vowing to track down those behind the violent attempts.
“These terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” a White House statement said.
