New technical adviser for the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr faces an uphill task in his new job. After signing a two year deal to manage the senior national team, the NFF gave him a target: QUALIFY NIGERIA FOR RUSSIA 2018 WORLD CUP.
Rohr is the first substantive coach of the Super Eagles since the unceremonious departure of Sunday Oliseh.
Oliseh, who resigned from the job citing frustration from the football authorities as well as breach of contract agreements, recently revealed what could be termed a rare key to succeeding as coach of the Super Eagles.
In a video posted on Twitter by football journalist, Piers Edwards, Oliseh said it is a difficult task to succeed as coach of super Eagles if you don’t have the backing of the President of the Federal Republic.
His words:
In my country, it is difficult, I know it from personal experience, it is almost a herculean task to manage the national team if you don’t got the backing of the President of the country itself
