Thirty-one year-old taxi driver, Ved Prakash, arrived home from his night shift on Thursday morning and headed straight into the shower.
But as he stepped out the cubicle, his wife Rita Yadav hit him over the head with a stone grinder – knocking him to the floor. She grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed at his penis.
Daily Express reports that Rita chopped of her husband penis, shouting “I will not spare you”.
The report said she later handed herself in at the police station, leaving her husband home alone to regain consciousness before he was able to call for an ambulance.
While in custody, she told the police that her husband mentally tortured her by not having sex with her and so avoided having children with her.
Kumar Yadav, Indirapuram police officer, said: “She told the police that her husband mentally tortured her by not having a physical relationship with her and avoided having children with her.
The couple from Bulandshahr were married in June 2006, and had been living in Ghaziabad for the past eight years.
But it was an unhappy marriage, as the housewife told police her husband often told her he hated her and was disgusted by her face.
Police said the couple fought regularly and the husband had repeatedly asked his wife to leave.
He also threatened to have extra-marital affairs, even though his wife would regularly beg for sex.
The woman was quoted as saying: “He used boast about his manhood and told me that he can have children with other women but not me.
“I still tolerated him. I don’t know the reason why he hates me. Often, he used to ask me to leave.
“He used to assault me and often abused me and my sisters.
“I have tried my level best to persuade him to have children but he had no physical relations with me.
“We had fight over the same issue on Wednesday night.I have no regrets as I suffered a lot of humiliation and mental torture.
“I had no answers when my relatives asked me the reason for not having children.
Doctors at the Jaypee Hospital confirmed the man’s penis had been severed, but was reattached following five-hours in surgery.
But they were confident he would survive – however they could not confirm whether he would be able to reproduce after the surgery.
