As the 2022 transfer window in the world of football came to an end on Thursday September 1, huge amount of money have been spent on signing players across the world.
In what has been the trend in the last few years, Premier League clubs splashed the cash during a sizzling summer transfer window as spending reached a record level of an estimated £1.9 billion.
Chelsea and Manchester United led the way with big-money signings to overhaul their squads.
Erik ten Hag got his man on deadline day as Brazil winger Antony was reunited with his former boss from Ajax in an £86 million move to Manchester United.
New Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly, had a hands-on approach with the club’s transfer business and his biggst outlay captured defender Wesley Fofana from Leicester City.
The centre-back, 21, moved to Stamford Bridge in a seven-year deal for an initial fee of £70 million that could rise to £80 million with add-ons.
Liverpool were quick off the mark during the window, adding Darwin Nunez from Benfica to their talented strike force in June.

The Norwegian hotshot has bagged nine goals in his first five Premier League games, including two hat-tricks.

- Antony: Ajax to Manchester United (£86m)

- Erling Haaland: Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City (£85.5m)

City paid the 21-year-old’s release clause and expect to pay £85.5 million in total when agent fees, sign-on bonus and other costs are taken into account.

Darwin Gabriel Nunez is a Uruguayan professional footballer. He is a striker. Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool in a club-record £85 million deal from Benfica.
The upfront fee of £64 million will rise to £85 million should Nunez reach a number of milestones outlined in the agreement, which range from scoring goals to winning the Champions League.
