Fourteen passengers have been confirmed dead by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in an accident on Ilesa-Akure Road, Osun State on Saturday.
The accident victims were occupants of a Toyota Sienna with registration number KRD 842 GY and a lorry which collided during an overtaking effort. The lorry is marked BAU 171 ZE. Two people also sustained injury in the fatal accident.
Newspeakonline learnt that the accident occurred at about 5:40 PM at the Powerline area of the route. Body parts of the corpses littered the road.
The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun State Command, Agnes Ogungbemi, said 18 people were involved in the accident, confirming that 14 of them were killed while two sustained injury. She revealed that mutilated corpses were taken to WESLEY Hospital Morgue, Ilesa.
