Recall that the EFCC had traced about N260 million from Dasuki’s ofice to the account of the former Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, who explained in a letter to the anti graft agency that the money was a part refund of the money which former President Goodluck Jonathan instructed him to release to some political groups for mobilisation and post-election peace advocacy.
Anenih in his letter to the EFCC said that N100 million was given to the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olu Falae, N100 million to the leader of ACCORD, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and N63 million to a group headed by elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai.
After Anenih’s statement, the Accord Party in a letter to the EFCC confirmed that Ladoja received N100 million to support former president Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 election since their party had no presidential candidate in the election.
“We are dismayed at the latest attempt being made by Chief Ladoja to justify his involvement in the illegal sharing of the funds meant to purchase arms and ammunition to secure Nigeria as coordinated by the the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd). The statement by one Nureni Adisa on Friday was apparently on the order of Ladoja who wanted to save his face using premeditated tactics after realizing that his secret was about to be revealed to the whole world by the EFCC.
“Rather than make belated attempts to re-write the story of his betrayal of his party supporters or extenuate on his disgraceful connivance with others to loot the nation’s treasury, the former governor should just shelve his toga of deceit and show remorse over his previous anti-people activities in his private and public life. It is an established fact that the N100m he claimed to have received from Chief Tony Anenih represents a fraction of such illegal funds he realized from the surreptitious sale of the Accord Party to the PDP at the centre.
“It is gratifying to note that the good people of Oyo State, particularly the electorate, relied on the APC’s revelations on Ladoja’s lack of promise as a result of his dirty past and gross incompetence to lead in their decision to elect and re-elect Sen. Abiola Ajimobi as governor of the Pacesetter State in 2011 and 2015 respectively. Now that we are vindicated on our motivation to paint his true picture for the unsuspecting populace to see and make an informed judgement of him in the court of public opinion, we expect the few supporters remaining in his camp to retrace their steps and join the right movement to move the state forward.“We recall how the media office of our great party (APC) exposed the looting of the state treasury under the Ladoja’s watch between 2003 and 2007 when family members, friends and cronies were used as proxies to steal public funds and divert public properties. Notwithstanding the resultant arrest and arraignment of Ladoja in court by the EFCC, he still continued to paint the picture of a saint of himself. As if that was not enough, we reported to the public how he (Ladoja) refunded a sum of N500m to the state government in an effort to secure a soft landing. He threatened to sue us over this and we dared him to go ahead but he never did. The latest development has vindicated us, no doubt.”
