The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has resolved to give automatic tickets to 118 serving legislators legislators on its platform. Senator Monsurat Sunmon, Hon. Adedapo Lam-Adesina and the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Musah Abdulwasi, are some of the lawmaker from Oyo state getting the automatic ticket.
The party announced the decision at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, saying it was to reward the lawmakers for boldly embracing the ADC. The party’s National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu read the position of the party after the its 61st National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
He said the lawmakers include five senators, 18 House of Representatives members and 95 State House of Assembly members.
Nwosu also announced that the party will grant 50% discount on nomination forms to people under 40. He said women and physically challenged persons can decide to pay for the forms or not because some may regard special treatment as discriminatory.
On the party’s candidates in Osun state where governorship election is scheduled to hold on September 22, Nwosu said: “We know the qualities of people we brought out and we assure them they will deliver. They can hold the party responsible if they fail.”
He announced the schedule of the party’s primaries as follows:
House of Assembly – September 29
Governorship – October 2
National Assembly – October 4
Presidency – October 6
