Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has been affirmed as the Delta South Senatorial District candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 elections.
The affirmation was done at the primary election held at Civic Centre in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
The primary election was initially billed to hold on Tuesday before its postponement.
Uduaghan’s opponent in the primary election, Chief Michael Johnny, Air Vice Marshall Henry Okorodudu and two others were screened out by the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja during the screening exercise.
Speaking after his affirmation, Uduaghan thanked the party and assured delegates and members of the Senatorial district of good representation. He also promised to unite the two factions of the party in the state.
Uduaghan who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last month, will have to face Senator James Manager, in the 2019 election. Manager, a serving senator, is the candidate of the PDP.
