Despite a 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna state by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, protests following the bloodbath that has claimed 55 lives, have spread from Kaduna town to other parts of the state.
Ahmadu Bello way to Sabo, Kamazo to Barnawa area, Maraba Rido have all been deserted with bonfires spotted in some parts with gunshots ringing out occasionally.
The police have arrested 22 persons suspected to be directly involved in the killings which occured at Kasuwar Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.
Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while addressing a news conference in Abuja.
“Twenty-two suspects directly involved in the killing of these innocent people have been arrested and they are now in police custody, and they have been assisting the police further in the investigation into the incident,” he said.
Mr Moshood said normalcy has been restored to the area while some prominent personalities kidnapped during the incident have been rescued.
He condoled with the families of the victims on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris.
“The IGP condemns in entirety the attack and killings of innocent people, calls for calm as the police special investigation team has made a significant progress in the investigation into the attack and the killing of innocent people,” he said.
