The famous Nigerian actress, Ada Ameh, known as Emu in the popular family drama series, The Johnsons, is dead.
The 48-year-old actress died at the NNPC hospital in Warri, Delta State, on Sunday.
She was said to have been a guest of an oil company topshot and his family when she suddenly collapsed.
The actress was reportedly rushed to the NNPC hospital but passed on before they arrived the facility.
Ironically, the actress spent the last two years in what can be described as an agony.
Ameh, who has been putting smiles on the faces of thousands of people for several decades, has been battling with mental health challenges, following the loss of her daughter and only child, Aladi Godgifts, in October 2020.
Despite still making people happy with her comic character, the actress lamented that life has not remained the same since her daughter’s death.
While speaking on her mental health in a post on her Instagram page in June, Ameh stated that she was given a job which she failed to deliver.
According to the actress, the company did not understand what she was going through and filed a lawsuit against her.
She lamented that the company was suing her for a staggering amount, which she was unable to afford.
Ameh admitted that the lawsuit had taken a toll on her, but she wouldn’t allow it to weigh her down or kill her.
She accompanied the video with the the caption, “Do me good. Because God is good.”
Also, she recently opened up about battling depression and losing seven members of her family to death.
Speaking on TVC programme, ‘Your View,’ the actress confirmed that she had been depressed for some years, but it became worse when she lost her daughter.
According to Ada Ameh, she had lost six of her siblings before the death of her daughter and she thought she was going to die too.
She said: “I have depression, I have been depressed for some years and it became very worse when I lost my daughter in 2020. I was 14 when I had her, she was my best friend, and sister, I just saw my world crumbling down before me.
“I had lost three of my sisters, three of my brothers and my family. I thought I was going to be next when my younger sister died and I have been in and out of the hospital,” she had said.
Born on May 15, 1974, in Ajegunle, Lagos, the popular actress shared a video of her eating with the family around 12:53pm few hours before her death.
Ameh started her career over two decades ago and had her big break when she featured as Anita in Zeb Ejiro’s and 1996 blockbuster movie, Domitilla.
She was well known for her character as Emu Johnson, in the award winning television drama series, The Johnsons.
