A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State on Thursday afternoon adopted Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as its governorship candidate for the Saturday governorship election in the state.
Hon. Ladi Adebutu, who is presently locked in a legal battle with Senator Buruji Kashamu, over who is the authentic PDP governorship candidate in the state, belongs to this faction.
The adoption deal was sealed at the Park Inn, Abeokuta, the state capital, with the factional Chairman of PDP in the State, Hon. Sikirullai Ogundele and Akinlade present to finalise it.
Ogundele told reporters that the faction found Akinlade more credible and competent to govern the state than other contestants.
His words: “We have adopted Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade of the Allied People’s Movement, APM as our candidate, and solidly together as a party we have the right to associate and vote for whoever we feel can do it right.
“Politics is all about responsiveness, politics is about being outright, so we found all this qualities in Akinlade and as I speaks with you the entire state exco members, Local government exevutive members and ward executive o members have graciously adopted the candidature of Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade.”
Akinlade is the anointed candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
