The Accord governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has donated the sum of N1 million to the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative.
Adelabu made the donation during a visit to the mogajis (family heads), who were having their meeting at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Saturday.
Reacting to Accord candidate’s gesture via a statement jointly signed by the President, Association of Ibadan Mogajis’, Chief Asimiyu Ariori, and the Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, the mogajis lauded Adelabu for the donation.
They noted that the contribution would assist them (mogajis) in their efforts to tackle security challenges in Ibadan land and its environs.
The mogajis said the commendation was necessary because of Adelabu’s gesture towards security in Ibadan land, adding that it has nothing to do with politics.
They urged stakeholders, good minded people, sons and daughters of Ibadan land to also contribute their own quota towards the development of the city, which according to them is the pacesetter and political capital of the South West region.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deputy governor was accompanied by the director general of his campaign organisation and Aare Onibon Balogun of Ibadan land, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke; Accord senatorial candidate for Oyo South, Kolapo Kola-Daisi; Accord candidate for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon Arisekola and Chief Wasiu Ajimobi among others.
Adegoke had earlier described Adelabu as the most qualified governorship candidate in Oyo State due to his antecedent as an entrepreneur and philanthropic gestures.
