A delegation of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has commended its leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, for his immense contributions to the group and Nigeria as a whole.
The delegation, led by the group’s Secretary General, Agbaakin Ademola Folarin, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the nonagenarian’s Lekki residence, after the maiden meeting of the new executive committee of Afenifere in Lagos State, on Sunday.
According to the delegation, the visit was to commend Adebanjo for his leadership role in Afenifere and for his contributions to the development of Nigeria.
“We decided to pay a prominent leader of our organisation a courtesy visit, to commend him for his leadership role in Afenifere and for his contributions to the development of Nigeria,” Folarin said.
Also, the National Publicity Secretary of the body, Comrade Jare Ajayi, described the visit as one of the ways to appreciate those who have and are still contributing to the progress of Afenifere, Yoruba land and Nigeria.
“Doing so from time to time is to encourage those concerned to do more. We decided to do this as a way of encouraging others to emulate the elders who have done well and those who are still doing well,” Ajayi said.
Speaking, Adebanjo expressed joy in receiving the delegation and showered prayers on Afenifere, Yoruba land and Nigeria.
