The relative peace being enjoyed in Imo State in the last few weeks was breached on Saturday, as unknown gunmen set ablaze the country home of prominent Igbo leader, Professor George Obiozor, in Awo-Omama, Imo State.
Obiozor is the current President-General of the apex Igbo social-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and former Ambassador to the United States of America and Israel.
Obiozor, hails from Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, the same community the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, comes from.
Recall that Uzodinma’s country home was also set ablaze by unknown gunmen in 2021.
The Ohanaeze President-General is reported to be on medical vacation abroad when the gunmen burnt down the house.
The Imo State Police Command of is yet to comment on the attack.
