The Accord Party members in Oyo State seem not to be conducting their affairs in one accord especially as it concerns its party congresses.
It would be recalled that two weeks ago, the party’s decision to hold congresses across the state ended up dividing the party as members held parallel congresses even at the ward level.
The same thing repeated itself at the weekend. Members again seemed to ignore calls for unity and held parellel congresses to elect the local governments executives.
The party has reportedly broken down into two factions, one faction in support of a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bukola Ajaja and the other, loyal to the State Chairman, Alhaji Bashiru Lawal.
This factionalisation continues to reign even as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state continues to woo Accord Party national leader, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, back ahead of 2019 elections.
A source told Newspeakonline that in the Ibadan zone, parallel congresses were held in Ibadan South West, Ibadan North and Ibadan North East local government areas while the Oyo Zone witnessed parallel congresses in Oyo West and AFIJIO local government areas.
Local governments in the Oke-Ogun zone also saw parallel congresses except for Iseyin. The same crisis played out in the three local government areas of Ibarapa Zone.
In Ogbomoso zone, it was learnt that parallel congresses held in Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local governments.
