Subscribers to the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme are to get a policy document that gives details of coverage of their subscription.
The Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr Sola Akande, revealed this in an interaction with Newspeakonline. Akande said the agency was already putting finishing touches to the policy which will be handed over to each enrollee.
According to him, the document will not only spell out entitlements of enrollees, it will serve as a guide in the relationship between enrollees and medical facilities attending to their needs.
With the document, Akande said no hospital or doctor can cheat enrollee by telling them that their plan does not cover certain treatments or diagnosis as has been experienced by a few enrollees in the past.
The document, he said, was another way of responding to complaints by some enrollees that some hospitals tell them that their plan does not cover certain treatments or diagnosis. He said the agency would continue to strengthen the scheme to protect enrollees at all levels, and in every part of the state.
The Executive Secretary also disclosed that the agency would focus more on Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa zones of the state as well as the informal sector in the current year. “We know we have done a lot in Ibadan and we are not resting on our oars but we believe we need to step up in those areas.” Akande said.
He pointed out that OYSHIA was planning establishment of zonal offices in the areas with Oyo zonal office already existing. He said Saki office would soon be fully equipped to be able to render maximum service to residents of the ancient town and surrounding communities.
