Kalu Bernard, the 21-year-old Air Force officer who killed his girlfriend, Solape Oladipupo, in March, has been sentenced to death by hanging.
Kalu committed the murder at the Corporal and Below Quarters, Compound 9, Air Force Base, Makurdi in Benue state, on March 12, 2017.
Kalu reportedly broke into the deceased home and shot her at close range after he suspected that she was cheating on him.
He was charged before the Nigerian Air Force court on an 8-count charge bordering on murder, house breaking, impersonation, attempted murder, among others.
Delivering judgment in the case on Tuesday, the President of the court, Gp. Capt. Elisha Bindul, found Kalu guilty in six out of the eight count charges and thereafter sentenced him to death by hanging which would be subject to the confirmation of the conveying authority.
His counsel, Abimiku Ewuga, has said he would appeal the judgment.
