Ajayi Crowther University expels 29 students; bans jeans, alcohol, raw food items on campus (SEE LIST)

The management of the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), has expelled 29 students and suspended nine, from the institution, over disciplinary issues.

Three letters were issued warning letters.

According to reports, some male students assaulted the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dapo Folorunsho Asaju, two weeks ago, when he went to personally intervene in violence that broke out in one of the hostels.

It was gathered that trouble had started when some male students of ‘Ibadan Hostel’ and ‘JA (Joseph Adetiloye) Hostel’ allegedly fought over a female student.

Reports said the institution was shut down as a result of the incident but the school in a statement, later denied shutring down the school.

It said it only embarked in Easter Break to resume after the celebrations.

On Friday, some of those expelled appeared before the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) over the incident. Others had pending cases which were also investigated.

The school also released the list of prohibited/contraband items in students Hostels for new and returning students.

List of Prohibited/ Contraband Items in Students’ Hostels include:

Indian Hemp
Hard Drugs (Such as cocaine, heroin, and other illicit drugs)
Alcoholic drinks
Lethal weapons/ injections,
Guns and bullets
Knockout/ fireworks of any kind
Kerosene lamp, gas cooker, candles, matches and lighters
Cooking utensils such as hotplates, rice cookers, toasters, microwaves, electric boiling rings, saucepans, blenders
Hair dryers/ straighteners
Refrigerators /grillers
Any item meant for sale or business activities
Raw food items
Diabolic materials
Television sets
Ungodly musical tapes and CDs
Video machines, tapes, VCD and DVD players
TV cards, antennas
Computer games(play stations)
Condoms and contraceptives
Other contraband items that may be specified or published from time to time
All Students are to take note and comply accordingly.
