Oyo State Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, at the week-end distributed cheques to over 200 victims of the civil disturbance that occurred some weeks ago at Isale Osi and Apampa Compound in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state.
Besides, a total of 99 victims of the inferno that occurred at at Ogunpa Market late last year were also compensated by the governor.
The distribution of the cheques came during the campaign tour of the local government area by the governor.
He said that his administration would continue to implement policies that would promote economic and social development with a view to taking the state to greater heights.
Governor Ajimobi, while addressing members of the Motor Dealers’ Association at Molete, assured motor dealers of a peaceful atmosphere that would promote auto business.
He also promised the dealers an interest-free loan to sustain their auto business.
Also speaking at Bode Market where he addressed members of the Association of Traditional Herbs Sellers of Nigeria, Governor Ajimobi recalled that he had also been a beneficiary of the services of herb sellers in the past and would, therefore, be willing to give necessary assistance to promote herbs trading.
He said that his administration had never conceived the idea of relocating the traders from the popular Bode Market, stressing that the interest-free loan being given to traders would also be extended to them to support their business.
The campaign train later proceeded to Ogunpa Market where Governor Ajimobi received some decampees form the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Ajimobi called on his supporters at the market not to engage in abusive words with his political opponents but rather engage them in constructive and intellectual discuss on what they had done for the people of the state before that qualified them for the posts they were contesting for.
