Governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has paid tribute to late Prof. Muritala Akinola Salau, INEC National Commissioner, representing South West, who died at 67.
In a statement issued on Monday, the governor said he was joining people of the state to commiserate with the family of the deceased.
He said the late professor was a blessing to the state adding that the laudable effort of the former Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso at ensuring that the state’s joint-owned university attained the enviable height of the state university in Nigeria whilst he was VC between July 1999 and May 2005 can never be forgotten in the history of the state.
Ajimobi added that Prof. Salau has contributed his knowledge to the development of his home state, Oyo state by sitting on the boards of parastatals and schools.
He also described the late scholar and administrator as a forthright, dedicated, focused and humane leader saying his vacuum caused by his demise will be difficult to fill.
He therefore prayed that God grant his soul rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Salau, a former Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH died at Turkish Hospital in Abuja on Saturday after a brief illness.
