The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has corroborated the statement credited to former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala that the Labour Party did not have any pact with it ahead the gubernatorial election later this month.
Reacting to Akala’s submission which was contained in a statement issued by his media assistant, Oludare Ogunlana, the Oyo APC in a counter statement issued by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, said there was no basis for any pact with the former governor and his Labour Party since the ruling party did not need them to win the forthcoming polls in the state.
According to the APC, “Akala and LP did well by reminding the public that the wide gap which separates integrity from indecency cannot be removed overnight. The light which the APC represents and darkness which Akala personifies, wherever he claims to be, are two different things but the beauty of it is that the public could discern it all.
“Even if the people of the state would forget the past, the recalcitrant Akala would not let them as he has, in recent times, shown again that the leopard can never change the spots on its skin. After tormenting a whole state for close to five years with sponsorship of political violence, official corruption and recklessness, the same character is now using his ill-gotten wealth to inflict another round of political terrorism on the citizenry.
“This is happening at a time when the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi has barely succeeded in cleansing all the Augean Stables left behind by the inglorious regime of Alao-Akala. It is recalled that the same person parading himself as gubernatorial candidate got subdued by divine power as well as the will power of the voters in 2011 despite his maximum utilization of his war chest.
“What sense would it then make to the reputable to enter into any pact with an Akala who had been rejected by the people? What value can he add to the politics of the if not violence and brigandage? What value can he add to governance if not to continue the looting spree from where he was stopped? Therefore, our great party-APC has not and will never enter into any unwholesome pact with him or any other character with tainted record of service.” Sadare stated.
