The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has appealed to the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and national levels to ensure that the governorship ambition of Chief Adeniyi Akintola, SAN, received their blessings.
Adeyemi made the appeal on Saturday when the legal luminary paid him a courtesy visit in Oyo town.
The monarch reportedly described Akintola as a formidable pillar in legal practice and recalled that the aspirant had applied sheer legal prowess to save situations for the progressives in the South-West on many occasions.
Punch quoted him as saying: “If Niyi (Akintola) does not come out, someone else will. Fools will take over the political sphere when those who are wise and intelligent refused to contest elections. When the party chooses you, we know the next move.”
He commended the incumbent governor, Abiola Ajimobi, for what he called his “socio-infrastructural renewal” across the state.
