The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday said reports making making the rounds that only the index finger can be used to vote in the forthcoming general elections was false.
In a statement posted on its Twitter handle, the commission described the reports as fake news. It explained that any finger could be used to vote but that the voter must ensure that his or her mark is clear and placed inside the box of the political party of his or her choice and does not stray into another box.
The boxes beside the logo for political parties were reduced due to the high number of parties involved in the presidential election. Seventy-three parties are taking part in the election.
