The Association of Local Government of Nigeria(ALGON), Oyo State chapter, on Sunday commiserated with the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state over the demise of two chieftains of the party, Alhaji Wasiu Abubakr a.ka. Tawa and Alhaji Raheem Raji a.k.a Zaria.
A statement signed by the chairman of the association in the state, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, said both men displayed rare sense of commitment to the party in their respective local governments and the the state at large.
ALGON also expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased members of the party in the state.
Abubakr a.k.a Tawa was a former Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) in the state and until his death on June 17, he was a chieftain of the party in Ibadan South East Local Government. Raji a.k.a Zaria who died on June 25, was the chairman of the party in Lagelu Local Government.
According to ALGON, both of them displayed rare sense of commitment, they were strategic thinkers, visionary, brilliant, innovative and creative in the discharge of their responsibilities.
“They both contributed in no small measure to the upliftment and development of the party at their respective Local Governments and also to the greatness of our party in Oyo State.
“At this moment, our hearts and prayers are with their immediate families and the entire members of our party in the state.
“We pray the Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings, make aljanah fridaus their permanent abode and also console all those they left behind.”
