The Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, has stated that the draft bill on Operation Amotekun would be given speedy hearing and passage by the state legislature.
He said the legislature was still awaiting the bill from the executive after its recent harmonisation by the Attorneys-General of the South West states.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Kunle Alabi, Owoeye maintained that “we are yet to receive the bill from the executive. But, I can assure you that as soon as we receive the bill, it will be given expeditious hearing and passage.”
According to him, “presently, the House is on recess. However, we are ready to cut short our recess and do the needful the moment we get hold of the bill.”
Owoeye further added that anything that has to do with the security of the citizenry must be given topmost priority by the government, stressing that Amotekun bill should be given necessary legislative support and backing.
